We are currently wrapping up our chapterThe Natural Environment. Students are encouraged to review their notes, terms, and questions from this chapter. We will be having a quiz following our March Break. I also encourage parents to work with their son or daughter in preparing for any upcoming quizes or tests.
We have also taken the opportunity to view the Kony 2012 video that has been sweeping the internet. We have generated some interesting discussion around this social media phenomenon. I have also suggested to students that they dig deeper into the issue surrounding the Invisible Children. We discussed media awareness and how we need to hear all sides of an issue before we take a position. It has been a very powerful learning opportunity for these students.
Our next chapter that we will be covering is The Changing Weather. As a lead-in to this chapter, we are currently viewing the documentary An Inconvenient Truth. Following this video, we will discuss both sides of the global warming debate.
