We are nearing the end of the novel To See You Again.  Students will be responsible for handing in their novel studies scribblers following their novel studies test.   The test on the novel will be at the beginning of next week.  I will look at the class schedules and then inform students which day and class period their test will fall on.   Please have students review their summaries to help prepare them for the test.   Following the novel study, I will be teaching the students the basics of essay writing.  This is a very important part of our curriculum in which the students will need to pay close attention.   Following the notes and examples on the essay, the students will be given topics to choose from, in which to write their essay.  Please encourage your child to review their notes and carefully construct their essay to the best of their ability.  

Social Studies

Students have received their social quizes.   Parents please check to see how your child did on the quiz.   

We are now working on an assignment in which we do research on a country of choice, to see if the information that we collect challenges or reinforces our preconceptions of that country. Students will have 3 lab periods to complete this assignment.  They will create a slideshow to present their research to the class.  They are also encouraged to work on this assignment at home.

We are currently reading the novel To See You Again. We will be reading this novel for the next 3 weeks to a month. Students are responsible for doing a summary for every two chapters read. We are now reading into chapter 6. Students will soon have their third summary to complete.

All novel studies scribblers and "I AM DAVID" booklets are due. The cartoon assignment based on the novel is due Friday October 31. Please ensure these are handed in on time as this mark will show on the first term report.

Social Studies Quiz Results & Re-Quiz

Due to some poor results, I am offering a requiz in which the highest mark students can get is 80%. In order to do this rewrite students must have their quizes signed.
